subject: Hgc For Weight Loss - Miricle Drug Or Dead End? [print this page]

What is it?
What is it?

HGC is a hormone naturally found in the pregnant female body. It is approved by the FDA to treat infertility in both men and women. A recent trend has the weight loss industry using HGC for weight loss. As a weight loss supplement, HGC is injected and must be accompanied by a low calorie diet. In most programs, that calorie restriction is 500 calories per day. The type of food consumed is usually not regulated at all so the dieter can feel free to eat what they want as long as it adds up to the magic 500 calories.

Does it work?

The simple answer to this question is "yes." But let's take a harder look. Neither the FDA or any other credible source can show supporting scientific evidence for using HGC for weight loss. If that is the case, you might be wondering how people are losing weight on these type of programs. It isn't too difficult to see that if you limit your calorie intake to 500 calories per day you are going to lose weight fairly rapidly. This is not HGC for weigh loss but starvation for weight loss. What you are also going to lose is muscle and maybe even part of your mind due to starvation. The suggested calorie intake for a dieting woman is 1200 and for a man it is 1700. At 500 calories per day your body has to start feeding off of itself for survival. Fat will not be the only thing consumed. Muscle will play a role in that also. When the body goes into starvation mode it has a huge negative effect on organ function including your brain. The hunger factor on a 500 calorie per day diet would have to be enough to drive anyone crazy. In simple terms, this is not a safe way to lose weight.

Will the weight stay off?

If you are desperate to lose weight you might overlook my last statement that it is not healthy because you saw the previous statement that the program of HGC for weight loss is going to be rapid. Let me try to save you some agony by telling you what is going to happen when you hit your target weight. When you are happy with the numbers you see on the scale you will have to stop the HGC injections and the 500 calorie a day diet. The first thing that is going to happen when you start eating is that since you have been starving yourself your body is going to react to you giving it food. The way that it is going to react is that it is going to hold on or store as much of the food as it can in order to protect itself from another period of famine. How do you think it is going to store it? If you guessed "fat" you are correct! Your body will start storing away food as fat just in case you start starving it again. This is going to result in very rapid weight gain.

So, in conclusion, you can clearly see that HGC for weight loss is not the solution for you. Not only is it not approved by the FDA for such a treatment but the program is not safe for your body. There are legitimate weight loss programs that will give you the results you seek while being healthy for you. In the long run there is no need to tear up your body and ruin your health to be thin especially if you are going to gain it all back.
