subject: Cutting Costs Of A Wedding [print this page]

According to bridal magazine You and Your Wedding the average spend on a wedding is 20,273. With such a high cost on a single day, pressures are on to make it one incredibly special day. There are, of course, many ways to cut such a large budget down to anywhere up to a mere 10 or 20 percent. With simple negotiation, low-price searches and a little ingenuity, a lower priced wedding is within everybodys reach. So many people have learnt tips and tricks for budgeting and negotiation now coming out of a very long recession, and so planning within a budget for a wedding now is not such a stretch as some may imagine it to be.

Many people are opting for an incredibly cheap service of going in to a registry office, signing papers, and leaving such a small and modest venue to head to a slightly grander one for a reception. Some people still opt for an even cheaper option, heading back home or to a relatives house with sizeable space in order to host a fun and family-feel reception. Those whom choose these options usually skip out on caterers, too, and will have friends and family members create buffets or barbecues for guests.

Small-scale weddings, however, can cost as much as large-scale, depending on what is taken from it, where, why and how. Creating a wedding large or small does not matter when price gets called in to it. Simple, small weddings may cost more if they take place in expensive venues, with high food costs. A large wedding can be incredibly affordable if a reception done under marquees is opted for over a reception within a large, flashy venue. Decoration of a marquee can be done much like decoration of a larger venue, often with very similar elements.

Budgeting before even planning a wedding is a sure fire way to ensure money will not be over spent. Or, if it is over spent, the costs will be minimal. A spread sheet, and charts of money and where it can go to is paramount in a successful wedding budget. If something is not featured on a budget list, it is most likely a thing which can be forgotten or added later if budgeting allows. For some things, it may be possible to get them below budget. An act which makes it possible means there is more money for other expenses, potentially lavish options, or more fall back for other budgeting areas which become more expensive than originally anticipated. Regular updating of a budget is a simple way to keep on track of all money spent there will be no loose ends if you have been tracking everything from day one.

Talking to parents of both bride and groom can be a real big help. Long gone are traditional days of dowrys, and brides fathers paying for wedding ceremonies, but many parents still wish to help in any way they can. Not always do parents have means to help with money, but their contribution with anything at all from invite creating and sending, to cake making or a buffet preparation can save very important pennies.
