subject: Rudolph Mason Jr: Beauty Everywhere, Always At Agora Gallery [print this page]

Rudolph Mason Jr.s neo-impressionist landscapes and occasional geometric abstractions both challenge and sustain the definitive contours of occupied space. Masons collection of urban and rural narrative landscapes feature natural elements, manmade constructions and dwelling places that belong to locations both near and far, unusual and commonplace. Infused with the charm of dreamlike recollection, as a chain or series the works speak to our contemporary freedom of cultural and geographic mobility.

Born and raised in Tifton, Georgia, Rudolph Mason Jr. has visited more than twenty-five different countries and lived in Japan, Europe and Australia while serving in the U.S. Navy as an IT Officer. Although he works primarily in the medium of oil painting, which gives his captivating works an immersive richness and precision, the artist also experiments with drawing and photography. He has exhibited his compelling creations in a number of fine art galleries in Virginia, where he currently lives and works.

About the Exhibition

The days may be getting shorter, but youll forget all dark thoughts when you see Robert Oelmans astounding photography in his solo exhibition entitled Treasures of the Amazon Rainforest. Robert Oelman lives and works in exotic locations to capture insects, fauna, flora and panoramas whose existence and beauty is unseen and unsuspected by the majority of the world. The result is images that introduce wholly new creatures, broadening scientific knowledge, recording them for posterity, and possessing a mysterious, marvelous beauty. There are two excellent collective exhibitions on at the same time. Intriguing, challenging and magical, the works in Unbound Perspectives blend personal vision with individual experience to create a paradoxically universal appeal. Touching on matters of the deepest emotional and practical importance, this is art which refuses to acknowledge the existence of any barriers or boundaries other than those chosen and defined by the artists. In The Persistence of Form, these talented artists turn the fruits of their meticulous observations of life and its complexities into wonderful, stirring works that seem to initiate the viewer into the miraculous secrets of the world. Clever, creative and compelling, these artworks transform what we know and expect into something fresh and transcendent. The exhibitions open on November 27, 2012 and continue until December 18, 2012. The opening reception will take place on the evening of Thursday November 29, 2012, and art enthusiasts are invited to attend, admire and enjoy.
