Audi A4 Engine Is The Beauty With The Beast Under The Hood

The Audi prioritised the increment in cabin room and improvement in driver appeal, when it started its work on the second generation of the Audi A4. As the A4 was launched, it was clearly evident that the Audi had hit the mark by creating one outclass car that would definitely be the biggest rival to the Mercedes Benz C,class and the BMW 3-Series. It has everything from pretty looks, elegantly presented interiors, exceptionally supreme build quality to a wide range of efficient and powerful petrol and diesel engines, that a lavish car may ever need. The significant changes in the new model made it more fun to drive and more pleasurable on the long journeys as compared to the previous models.

The road and wind noises in the cabin are minimal, thus making the A4 a great cruiser in which you happily spend hours coasting around. The seats are designed brilliantly and provide an excellent support for the passengers. The head and leg room is also decent but the taller occupants may find the knee room a little bit poky. The Audi A4's suspension is superb; the sports models are especially among the best in class. The storage space in the cabin is somewhat restricted, however, the boot offers more than enough room.

At first, there were only three engines for Audi A4. In petrol range, there were two units, a 130hp 2.0-litre and a 220hp 3.0-litre V6, plus a 2.5-litre V6 diesel engine with 180hp. Short after that, an excellent 1.9-litre TDI with 110hp and 130hp was added, along came the most popular of all, the Audi A4 1.8-litre T engine. There was a 2.4-litre V6 engine with 160hp, later on it received an upgrade and became 167hp. The line-up received a 150hp 2.0-litre FSI engine which was capable of covering the stationary to 62mph sprint in just 9.6 seconds.

This FSI engine proved itself to be the highlight of the petrol range with its blend of supreme efficiency and remarkable performance. It was the perfect time for Audi to upgrade the Audi A4 1.8 T engine along with the Audi A4 2.5-litre TDI, both of them now rising to a 163hp. All of these Audi A4 engines were fitted in with either a five speed or a six speed manual gearbox as standard, while some of the models were offered with a choice of multitronic CVT or a tiptronic automatic gearbox. And when it comes to high performance machine, the Audi S4 is a real beauty with the beast (a 4.2-litre V8 engine producing 344hp) under the hood.
