Make The Most Of The Big Freeze At The Natural History Museum Ice Rink

Ice skating is a popular pastime in the lead up to the Christmas holidays, but with the recent dump of winter weather it may be time to get those skates out again. London offers a wealth of options for outdoor skating. The ice rink at the Natural History Museum boasts a 1050 square metre main rink and a smaller 100 square metre rink for children, all set against the beautiful backdrop of the grand museum building. Time for ice rinks is running out, however, with the Natural History Museum ice rink closing on the 17th of January.

The ice rink at Hyde Parks Winter Wonderland has already closed, while the rink at the Tower of London is set to close on the 10th of January. If you find yourself running out of time, Somerset House will keep its rink open until the 24th of January.

Tickets to the Natural History Museum ice rink cost 8.50 for children and 13 for adults during peak times. If youre a student, make sure you head out on Tuesday and dont forget your student ID, the rink is running a special offer allowing students to skate Tuesday for just 6.50, plus they receive a free drink at the bar.

While there, you may as well take a walk through the museum itself. With the 400,000-year-old flint hand axe, a Hawkmoth collection, and the worlds longest insect all on display throughout January, youre sure to find something of interest tucked away from the cold.
