Porto Alegre is the 10th most populated metropolis in Brazil and the capital of the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul. The services industry in Port Alegre comprises industry sectors such as computers, health, education and tourism. Main industries in the region include shoes, petrochemicals, automobiles and the assembly of computer components but the region has also produced tobacco given its vast pastures, livestock farming is also practiced. As a major river port, the city exports products of the rich agricultural and pastoral hinterland through its modern shipyard, meatpacking plants, foundries and varied processing industries and assembly plants.
