Organizations to Be Helped to Curtail Greenhouse Gas Emissions with the Climate Registry

Committed to helping companies properly track and report greenhouse gas emissions through education, the Climate Registry helps address climate change problems. The Climate Registry had only 20 or so members when it was first formed, but has grown to include all the 300 major corporations, municipalities, universities, government agencies and other organizations involved in environmental issues. All members shall oversee, measure, and report GHG emissions voluntarily. Collectively, they are actively working towards a solution to climate change. To help verify and report their greenhouse gas emissions, the Climate Registry members actively and coluntarily participate in measures to do so. Registry members are given appropriate consideration by the state of California for foresight purposes. As soon as state, federal or even global greenhouse gas regulations shall be implemented, these will also be seriously taken into account.Following a lobby from a group of CEOs, a bill was introduced to the California state legislature and The Climate Registry was formed. Gov. Gray Davis signed a bill into law on October 13, 2001 to form the structure of the registry. As climate change is, of course, beyond state borders, The Climate Registry may relinquish some or all of its duties to the regulatory authority of either the EPA or other greenhouse gas tracking legislation introduced by congress. Regardless, The Climate Registry has provided ground work and much clarity into the methods and tactics necessary to report carbon emissions. The Climate Registry's goal is to ensure benefits for the environment, progress, and integrity in the movement for the GHG emissions reductions which is consistent with carbon emissions reporting policies. Still under the umbrella of the Climate Action Reserve, the Climate Registry is one of the important programs of California. It is anticipated that members of The Climate Registry will continue to be actively involved and participate in market based solutions together with relevant regulations, as they strive to reduce the effect of greenhouse gas emissions on our climate.Organizations which are engaged in activities which produce harmful greenhouse gases find carbon emissions reporting to be an increasingly urgent priority. The regulations which are compelling companies to seriously take into consideration GHG reporting methods, the reason why many companies are taking advantage of the benefits from available software and applications which are designed to help companies accurately gather carbon emissions data, track and reporting greenhouse gas emissions, and eventually monetize various components of a carbon emissions reduction program.
