Liquid Rules Relaxed

The ban on travelling with liquids was implemented after the terrorist attacks on both the USA and the UK, and has become part of our travelling life for the past four years, after authorities found that the bombs used were planned to be made from liquid explosives. But if new reports are anything to go by, it could be phased out as soon as 2013, leaving us to travel with our lotions and potions as we see fit.

The transport secretary Phillip Hammond has revealed that the restrictions will be relaxed considerably from April with plans to make the system a whole lot more flexible.

The ban has been unpopular with travellers who have had belongings confiscated and parents who have had to test baby food in front of airport staff to be allowed to carry it through. Passengers travelling in from outside the European Union will be able to carry liquids bought in duty free shops, although the current rules of carrying them through in a sealed, clear plastic bag will still prevail. Make sure that you have Travel Insurance to cover any of your belongings on your flights.

Phillip Hammond is also discussing the possibility of introducing a train that travels far faster, to make the journey from Birmingham to London a lot easier, taking commuters a mere forty minutes. The current trip takes a lengthy hour and a half. This could revolutionise our systems, reducing traffic in London, but he also plans to tackle the constant roadworks, stating that "i don't think anyone can describe driving in London as a pleasure".
