Hyperactivity And ADHD - Treatment Options To Help Your Child Grow Up Balanced and Happy

I have just read a fascinating report of a study on hyperactivity and ADHD. This was carried out at The University of Central Florida and published in The Journal of Abnormal Childhood Psychology.

The boys were in two groups and had to watch Star Wars. One of the groups were children who had ADHD. Then they were asked to complete a more challenging academic task which involved the use of memory. Both groups started to move around more when doing this but the ADHD group was much more physically active. They were swiveling in their chairs and also moving their hands and feet a lot more than the other normal kids.

The conclusions drawn from this study, which admittedly, involved a small number of children, was that in order to concentrate and focus on the task, the ADHD children just had to be very active and move around.

This supports the many advocates using a stability or Swiss ball when children have to concentrate on tasks at home or even at school. It really helps them concentrate and pay attention if they are allowed some secondary movement. That is why I always advise parents to buy a stability ball for homework time if ADHD hyperactivity is a problem.

Other ways of coping with hyperactivity and ADHD are to make sure that there is enough green time activities organized as that has shown that hyperactivity can actually be burnt off. It has also been demonstrated that kids generally sleep better after having been in the open air.

Even if the weather is appalling, you can buy a Wii board so that you can still do physical exercises with them at home.

But hyperactivity and ADHD can also be approached by using some behavior modification techniques. In order to do that, you need a calmer child and that is why prescription meds using amphetamines are so popular because they actually do calm a child down. They seem to stimulate the brain and help them to keep calm. It is paradoxical but it works and the pharmaceutical companies are not too worried about side effects or health risks.

But the truth is out in that these meds are now limited in their effectiveness. In addition, they seem to work much less after a few years and their long term effects are very questionable.

So, for hyperactivity and ADHD, we need much safer medicine which can also relieve the symptoms of restlessness, inattention and impulsivity. The best one I know of is a homeopathic remedy which can work holistically and calm all the ADHD hyperactivity by restoring the mind body balance in the child.

Now that you know there are any different ways of easing the problems associated with hyperactivity and ADHD, why not check out the websites below which will take you on a whole new journey. Your child will never look back.
