I had the privilege in the Army of being instructed by the World Pistol Shooting Champion. He told us a story that I have not forgotten, it went something like this. There was a contact made with the enemy. Terrorist insurgents were surprised by a Platoon of soldiers patrolling through the bush. The terrorists ran away, down a fire-break (an open strip of land used to prevent fires from spreading), which happened to be nearby. Several soldiers in pursuit ran after them shooting as they ran (they acted before thinking). One soldier (who thought before acting), ran across the clearing to the other side to avoid shooting his own men. He knelt down, steadied his rifle on his knee, took aim and fired 5 times. The result was that 5 Terrorists were killed, 4 by this soldier and one by all the others.
