Seven Wonders Of The Modern World

Channel Tunnel

This is a 31-mile Channel Tunnel (Chunnel) and establishes the link between Britain and other parts of Europe. This tunnel unites huge machinery and infrastructure. Thick concrete tubes are plunged into the earth and burrowed through the basement of the English Channel. They emerge up from behind the white cliffs of Dover. The 2 tubes dash the broadest train. Passengers here use buses and automobiles they dont move on foot.

CN Tower

This is tallest structure of the world which stands tall on the sidewalks of Toronto. It is 3 times the height of the Seattle Space Needle. The CN Tower is very heavy and equals to the weight of 23,214 large elephants. While the construction of this tower the concrete was flowed from the base of the tower. The CN Tower can bear up to 260-mph gusts. Sky Pod is another structure which was built around the base of this tower. To avoid the swaying of the tower a pair of 10-ton counterweights has been attached to it. This tower was erected by Sikorsky helicopter.

Empire State Building

The Empire State Building is the most famous skyscraper in the world. For 40 years it has remained the tallest building in the world. It took only 1 year and 45 days in the construction of this building. The workers worked with complete dedication and the plumbers laid down pipes, the electricians installed lengthy telephone wire and the structures were completed by masons only in 8 months. This building was so nicely constructed that, it was repaired without any difficulty in the year 1945, when a bomber plane crashed into it due to fog.

Golden Gate Bridge

This is the world's tallest and longest suspension bridge, which is at the entrance of the San Francisco Bay. This bridge is suspended by 2 gigantic cables that consist of 80,000 miles of wire. It is said that the amount of cable which is used in the Golden Gate Bridge can encircle the whole earth 3 times. It took 4 years for the construction of the bridge the crews worked in the biting cold. The bridge is an amazing combination of beauty and strength. No damage was caused to the bridge in the year 1989 when there was Loma Prieta earthquake. This bridge has been shut down for very short period of time in these 66 years.
