For as long as I can remember, I've had a passion for food. As an adolescent I started off with a slight belly, however thinking nothing of it I played the ignorance card and consumed my weight in high-calorie foods each day. Soon, these extra pounds I wasinitially carrying doubled-and then trebled -until finally I was weighing in at 17 and a half stone. People started to make fun of me in class, joking that my weight was bigger than my age, and referring to me not as my birth name but hurtful nicknames such as 'whale' and 'fatty'. Girls no longer viewed me as cute or attractive, but as a monster who was only worthy of copying the answers to assessments off of, or making fun of in the corridors. I spiralled into depression, failing to see any solution to my massive weight gain. After weeks led to months, I finally saw an opportunity to change my weight and improve my quality of life. This is where the programme fit in. I realised that food wasn't a luxury item, it was simply a fuel which kept my body functioning. By changing my attitude towards food, I slowly cut down my daily intakeof meals and snacks. This, along with regular exercise, has transformed me into the man I am today. It was a hard graft, however it was more than worth the effort. I used to get breathless taking part in exercise classes, however nowadaysI consider walking the dog or riding my bike to work an easy task which is simply part of my everyday life.I hope that others can see that there is a chance of a better lifestyle, whether that is through this programme or another method. I just thought I would share my story and show people that these methods DO work, and after putting in the effort required you can reap the rewards once you have achieved your goals. I'm a completely different person now compared to what I used to be, and I love my new lifestyle without a shadow of doubt.
I'll leave a link at the end of this article detailing the programme I followed. I'm not saying in any way that this is the only way to lose weight, however it might be helpful to some of you. It helped me, so I'm hoping that the programme - or a similar programme - can help out others to achieve their ideal weight.
