Planning All Wedding Invitation Cards
Planning All Wedding Invitation Cards

Wedding invitations do not consist of just single cards sent out to guests. If you are in the planning stage for a ceremony and reception, you have likely realized that you will need a few wedding invitation cards: save the date invitations, the proper invitations, and RSVP, directions, and menu cards for all guests. Before you rush out and buy a set of invitations, however, consider these tips.

Do not send out any save the date or wedding invitation cards until you have finalized your guest list. An order of invitations can be costly, and you should know the exact amount when you contact a printer. As others can be added at the last minute (relatives you thought were too far away, a high school that just contacted you on the internet), order a few extra instead of making an additional order at the last minute.

Save the date invitations are not always necessary but are helpful for destination weddings. If all of your guests need to go to a location far from home, a save the date invitation gives them notice for making plans.

If the reception and ceremony are not held in the same location, create direction cards. Two formats are possible: a map or written directions. Include these in the envelopes with wedding invitations.

Weddings often have a theme and a tone, and invitations should clearly indicate them. Wedding invitation cards are not a time to give subtle hints. After all, if you plan for a beach wedding and most of your guests arrive in formal attire, most will worry about getting sand or water on their nice clothes. Wording assists with establishing a tone, and for formal weddings, consult an etiquette book. Casual ceremonies give you more room to say what you want, in whichever words.

For a theme, make sure the design or colors of the card clearly represent this. From seasonal themes to destination and Vegas wedding dcor, wedding invitations come in a nearly-endless array of styles, and one meeting your theme and tastes is out there you may need to go on a search.

Seal and Send cards sometimes called Sean-N-Send are helpful for couples expecting several guests. If you do not want to spend your time stuffing envelopes with multiple wedding invitation cards, have all of them in one. A Seal and Send card has all parts attached together, and the recipient needs to tear off the RSVP card and mail it to you. All Seal and Send invitations are folded up into an envelope, tied or sealed, and can quickly be placed in the mail.
