Weight Loss Tip: How Can Eathing 6 Meals A Day Help You Lose Weight

How does eating six meals a day help you lose weight? That is a question that usually never gets asked. The common theme you can read just about everywhere is to "eat 6 times a day."

First of all, I somewhat agree with that statement. I say that because I'm currently doing some research on weekly eating habits instead of daily eating habits, but I'll save that for another time.

Let's talk about how eating more food can help you lose more weight. As always, I'll keep this non technical. I'll keep things as elementary as I can and paint broad strokes, ok?

So, let's look at this first. When you work a muscle, let's say you bicep, what usually happens? The first stage is your muscle is sore. Why? Because of the new action you're making it do. Also, the new stress you're putting on that growing muscle causes it to readjust itself, so to speak, and learn to accept this new thing that is being done to it. Therefore, the muscle will start changing to accept this, this phenomenon is usually referred to a muscle growth or gaining muscle. When your muscle grows, it needs energy to do so. Because the muscle is changing to fit this new pressure it is being put through, it will go out and find fuel for the energy need to make this change. AND, since muscles grow even when rested, guess what? It needs more fuel towell, fuel this energy it is seeking.

In other words, your muscle is constantly working.

Whatever or however you term this, it's just another way of saying the muscle, the bicep in this case, is adapting to its environment.

Now, let's take that same concept and apply it to the stomach. (again, I'm using broad strokes here, just for understanding purposes)

Let's say you eat 2-3 times a day. Good, healthy meals. The stomach is used to getting food 2-3 times a day so that's when it goes to work, so to speak.

Now, you eat 5-6 times a day and your stomach goes "WHOA! What's this all about!? I'm not used to this extra stuff coming in!"

So, just like the bicep in our example above, the stomach muscle has to work in a new way to accept this new food coming in. It goes to seek out the energy needed to fuel this new work it is being put through.

And, just like the bicep, the stomach keeps working even when it's resting. So, it's burning up more fuel. It's almost counter intuitive. The more fuel you put in, the more work it does. The less fuel you put in, the less work it does.

Of course, there is a lot more technical stuff going on with the body, but if you can understand this concept, then maybe the statement about "eat 6 meals a day to lose weight" will make more sense to you.
