Avoid these common dieting mistakes
Avoid these common dieting mistakes

We have all been there. Summer time is approaching and we fear the moment when we have to wear our swimming suit and we cannot even imagine ourselves wearing a bikini. We have tried every diet we found on magazines, newspapers, online sites and we consider ourselves dieting experts. However, no matter how much we have tried, we have not been able to get in shape. Why????

There is quite a simple answer to that despairing question: dieting tips are many a time contradictory and what is allowed in one dieting system is totally banned in another. Or, to make things worse, we follow dieting myths that only make us hungry and fall for tempting snacks to fight our hunger.

As the say goes, err is human. And committing dieting mistakes is too. Let us review the most common ones and try to see how to amend them.

Too restrictive diets: Unless you are punishing yourself for a really hideous, awful crime, there is no reason why you should follow diets that are extremely restrictive. You may lose some pounds at the beginning but nobody can deprive himself from eating pasta or potatoes or a dessert from time to time and, after feeding yourself on a couple of boring lettuce leaves for days on end you will probably devour a double size of ravioli or the largest sundae ever.

Skipping breakfast: Breakfast is the most important meal of the day as it provides you with energy to study, work or do physical activity. You should always have a nice and nutritious breakfast before you leave home: whole grain cereals, skimmed milk, coffee or tea, orange juice and a couple of toasts are great. The healthier your breakfast is, the less hungry you will be throughout the morning.

Not balancing your calories: Try not to eat only one caloric meal in the whole day. Your daily calorie intake should be balanced amongst your four main meals so that you can keep up your metabolism at a good rate. Eat smaller portions more frequently and never avoid meals. You will only end up eating more, and probably less healthily in your next meal.

These are the most common dieting mistakes and, let's admit it, we have all committed them some time or another. If you follow these guidelines you will be ready to avoid them and look forward to wearing a bikini next summer.
