In implementing this diet plan, there are guidelines which can merit its success. This includes the following:

? Lower total fat intake

? Lower cholesterol intake

? Lower salt intake

? Lower body weight

Are there restrictions to the cardiac diet?

People who are on this diet may need to consider a few things such as:

? Foods that are partially or fully hydrogenated. You will find these in baked food lie doughnuts, pies, cakes, cookies and pastries among others. These are considered harmful so they should be avoided.

? Foods that has saturated fats like egg yolk, milk, cheese, red meat, cream, butter and more. You should exclude these from your diet routine.

? Foods from fast food restaurants or foods cooked in palm oil. This is found to be very harmful. It is better to use peanut oil or olive oil.

? Foods with too much salt and sodium like ketchup, mustard, soy sauce. Intake of these should be restricted or reduced.

? Combine meat with pasta, vegetables and rice for a healthier diet.

? Alcohol and caffeine intake should be reduced.

? Foods rich in omega-3 fatty acid like fish. Consumption can be increased since omega-3 fatty acids can lower blood triglyceride, reduce blood clotting and protect you against heart disease. Other foods with omega-3 fatty acid are walnuts, flex seeds and soy bean oil.

? Foods with soluble fibers such as barley, oatmeal, split peas, lentils, beans and sweet potatoes among others can be included.

? Food rich in antioxidants like vegetables and fruits. Examples are apricot, spinach, papaya, mango, carrot, sweet potato, strawberries and more. They are healthy for the body.

Exercise. Food is not the only thing you need to focus on in this diet plan. You have to also mix it with a good exercise plan to keep you healthy. Good examples are swimming, walking, biking, aerobics and kick boxing among others.
