How Diet Pills Can Be Harmful

There are several forms of diets and exercise you can use to try to lose weight. There are a vast amount of advertisements out there that talk about why you should use diet pills, and how they can benefit in losing weight. There are also some bad side effects that diet pills can cause and can even cause certain health problems in the long run.

It is recommended that proper diet and exercise is the wisest choice when trying to lose weight. Even though diet pills can help in shedding the pounds, there are some factors that the consumer should be aware of before deciding to take a diet pill.

There are three main categories of diet pills out there on shelves and on the internet.

Fat blockers

Appetite suppressants

Herbal diet pills

Each has its benefits and it's downfalls for people. Some are not regulated by the FDA, and in some cases can even be fake pills designed to sell just on the design of the bottle and the hype associated with it.

Fat Blockers

This type of diet pill gets rid of excess fats that are inside the intestines of the body, and can cause diarrhea, gas, and cramping. They can also interfere with the proper absorption of vitamins and nutrients that the body is used to having on its own and not interfered with. It is suggested to take a multi-vitamin when going on fat blockers diet pills.

Appetite Suppressants

These can help you in suppressing your appetite by telling the body to increase in its activity, which then tells your body that it isn't hungry. Some of the bad side effects with this are that it can raise blood pressure and the heart rate. It is not advisable for someone who has blood pressure problems to take a diet pill that suppresses the appetite due to its tendency to cause high blood pressure, irregular heartbeat, or heart disease. In a test done in a five year span, there was a reported death count of 49 people from appetite suppressant diet pills.

Herbal Diet Pills

These are the fuzzy lines on the border of what is legal and what is not. Herbal supplements come in a wide variety of types and also contain natural ingredients. Some are approved by the FDA, and some are not approved by the FDA. Those that are not can cause major problems in some cases for patients who are not accustomed to taking them, nor have physiological conditions which do not respond well to them.

Herbal diet pills are also a potential danger because the while many claim to be the best, sometimes people are out to make a quick buck so they forge a pill and claim it is a miracle pill. More and more scams and pills are being sold on shelves and consumers find out that they don't deliver results.

When in doubt, consult your general doctor to learn more about healthier options as opposed to diet pills. While there are not many reports of any harm done, diet pills are not natural to put in your body.
