subject: Can Marriage abroad actually work? [print this page] Larissa lives in Tula, a small town near Moscow. She is 25 and has already been married once to a fellow studentfrom the University of Tula, where she graduated in Economics a few years ago. In her last year in the university, they had a baby girl who lives with her now that she is divorced from her husband who never found a job, but continued to drink and party long after the student days were over. Now Larissa has registered in several websites to look for a foreign husband. She met Marc from Canada who lives in Nova Scotia and works in a hospital. He is ordinary guy-wants a home and a family, maybe a bit shy with women. He went to Moscow; they fell in love and married there. However, when Marc decided to sponsor his wife to Canada, friends and family started saying that she was probably using him to get a better life for herself in Canada. They showed him newspaper articles and blogs of Canadian citizens being tricked into marrying foreigners and regretting it. In the past several decades, many Canadians have become victims of marriage fraud foreigners marry them just to gain access to Canada the country of their dreams. Canadian citizens feel not only their feelings have been hurt, but also their bank accounts- may have carried this burden for years. This has happened repeatedly and victims of marriage fraud have gone public about it. No wonder people are bewaring of foreign marriages and presume that every foreigner who marries a Canadian must be a fraud. In some cases, however, foreigners do fall in love and remain in long lasting and happy marriages with Canadian citizens and both sides are happy. There are many reasons why and international match makes sense in many respects. Most Canadian men want a beautiful, family oriented woman who will look after the home and the children and will appreciate their efforts to provide financial stability and some entertainment. Fair enough, as far as they are open about what they want and what they can offer in exchange. Women from Russia tend to look for a safe social and financial environment in which to form families and raise children, and, from evolutional viewpoint, they have every right to do so. In Russia just there just are not, enough single men aged 25 to 55 who do not drink on daily basis. It is not unusual for a woman to go to work, pay for all the bills, do the housework, raise her children and support her husband - on her own. No wonder Russian women want to marry abroad. Who can blame them? Let us face it, men and women actually look for the same thing in a marriage and that is love and respect. Larissa and Mark may live happily ever after but they might also separate - this is true for every other couple. If you want to marry abroad and sponsor your spouse to Canada, my best advice is give it a chance. Do not be frightened by the sponsorship process you can get the application kit and do it yourself, or if you are busy and do not like filling forms you could hire experts to do it for you: www.immigroup.com . Remember that you need to be over 18 and financially able to provide your spouse a home and a living. Then it is all up to both of you.
