A personalized gift is the best gift you can get anyone but personalizing a gift is serious business and adding someone's name in glitter on a potted plant will not add a personalized effect. Mother's day gifts are best if they have a personal touch, here's how to make sure mom gets a nice personal gift without venturing into the world of ribbons and glitter.
Her Favorite something
Just go to mom's dresser, check the name and label of the perfume and you're all set, right? Wrong, it's likely that moms favorite perfume costs a lot, she probably keeps it safe somewhere and only uses it on special occasions. That pretty much just means you bought her the wrong gift. If you're going to get something that's your mom's favorite, make you sure you know exactly what it is. After all these years your mom would expect you to know her favorite food, color and perfume.
A special meal
Mom would like to be taken out but don't take her somewhere that serves the least of her favorite foods just because it's cheap, your better off buying mothers day fruit bouquets so she has one great dessert and a great mothers day gift. Don't try and cook if you aren't good at it because giving mom something that's either burnt or tasteless to eat is not the kind of dinner she'd like to have.
Flowers
Flowers are the safe choice, but don't pick them from the neighbor's yard. If you're getting flowers, make sure they're good and be ready to spend some real cash or just try mother's day gift baskets instead. Some women don't like the whole cutting and picking flower' concept. It's best to find a good alternative to flowers like fruit bouquets. Don't go for silk flowers because they're extremely expensive and hard to take care of.
Personal space
A lot of people send flowers to moms and while they are a nice gift, what some moms really like or need is me time. They'd like to be able to do something (anything) without worrying about dinner or being interrupted. Even when mom goes shopping, she's given a time limit and she needs to be back by then. Try and give her an entire worry free day. You can do this for your mom and for your wife. If you're old enough to cook, take over the house work for a day. If you're doing it for your wife, keeping the house in order really shouldn't be that hard.
