Car Rental Business and Automotive Buying Techniques - Choosing the Right Car

Sometimes the choice has to be sacrificed due to money constraints, and sometimes public opinion gets us confused. The most advisable thing in selecting a right is to first configure our need and how much maximum we can afford to pay. The second most import thing to see is the resale value of the car, availability of the spare parts and the back up technical support.

The second part in selecting a right car are the technical specs of the vehicle. Always see the type of engine as per following classifications:

Number of cylinders

Number of valves per cylinder

Type of CAM operations (VVTi, VTEC, IVTEC etc)

Type of fuel induction (EFI, carburator)

Now a days, the right car is the one which saves money from the fuel and this is dependent upon the number of valves per cylinder and the valve operation mechanism. Honda Ivtec and VTEC system is the most efficient one right now in the automotive market. For example, Honda Civic is offering 1.8L and 2.2L I vtec SOHC and DOHC 4 cylinder engine with four valves per cylinder, giving an ouput of 140 bhp to 155 bhp, more than all the Japanese makes.

Other important factors in selecting a car are:

Luggage capacity

Seating capacity

Turning radius

Type of suspensions (front and rear)

Power to weight ratio

Car floor height from the ground

Standard tire size

Types of brakes used

An expensive audio set need not to be focussed as it has nothing to do with your safety or travelling convenience, it is just a luxury which can be replaced any time. Instead always focus on the basic technical specs which mean a lot to your savings and safety and travelling comfort.

If you have children then, the right car will be the one with the biggest trunk available. Best would be an SUV with all four ABS assisted Disk brakes and turning radius of 4.6 to 5.5 meters. An SUV with 18 to 17 inch tire size car would be more safer to drive and more fuel economical as compared to with 1 inch or lesser tyre size. Similarly, if you choose a 5 door SUV with 2000 kg curb weight but with a 1.8L engine would be more heavy on fuel as compared to one with a 3 liter engine with 1800 kg cub weight. The lighter your car but with powerful engine, you will need to press the gas pedal less as compared to a car which is underpowered.

Under powered cars have less engine life as compared to rightly powered cars with more power to weight ratio. Power to weight ratio is calculated by dividing the total dead weight of the car by the horsepower.

The more spare parts you find in the market, the more technical support is available, the more will be the resale value and less depreciation in the value at the time of selling. The earlier you get your car fixed with genuine spare parts, the lessor you would loose from your pocket. Selecting a Ford would be much better option as compared to a Mitsubishi Pajero. Even if have to sacrifice the shape of Mitsubishi, go for something which is more convenient to afford, both on fuel and maintenance. Remember, family, kids are not seeking for speed thrill, they actually require comfort, safety, economy and reliability.
