Can you explain the role of good books in your child's life

"Books shape a man's life" and that "Books are said to be man's best friends are quotes we all know about". But the point is, for us to ask just about how much truth is there in this? I did an experiment and felt when I turned to a good book in times of anger or sadness; it had its own way of keeping me involved with another world. But there were also times when reading a book never quite sufficed and the problem would linger on, because it was bigger than the book, perhaps.

Lots of people who have done commendable works in their fields have grown up on books. But is it any book that can shape a child's life? even if it were a bestseller? No. Not really. Experts say that a book that everybody recommends is not necessarily a good book. Yes, it could have mass appeal, but it doesn't speak to you. You only hear it, but don't listen to it. As a result a book then, even it has won many accolades, doesn't work in shaping a child's life. Books that shape a child's life are those that speak to them in their exact developmental stage. A child that thinks, why an elephant can't be blue or red, will appreciate an author who thinks the same and expresses the same through a book. If the child were to continue to read on imaginative topics like red elephants and flying cows, in all probability the child may grow up to show the same to the masses as an animator like Walt Disney was. Books help develop exposure apart from broadening a child's perception in society. Books, apart from academics, expose the child to new places, different cultures, and shape ones character in life. The hero or the heroine of the book shows the authors solution to a particular problem. A heroine could be extremely warm at heart or could have accomplished brave things, like Florence Nightingale and Mother Teresa.

This could inspire any girl to be true to her calling especially when things go against her. In short, books help us analyse our selves and connect us with our deep sense of right and wrong in the world.
