subject: Can Swim Spas Really Help You Lose Weight? [print this page] Losing weight is one of those things that while it is easy in theory, actually managing to do it is a completely different story! Often you will hear people talk about how losing weight is 'simply a matter of eating less and exercising more' yet it is often difficult to do either, let alone both.
Exercise is often the difficult hurdle for most of us, normally we start out with the best intentions yet over time our interest fades and we slow down. This causes our weight loss results to slow down too, which de-motivates you and makes you feel down because you are no longer getting the results you hoped for. So how can we combat this?
One of the greatest ways to keep exercising is to make it enjoyable! Too many of us see exercise as a chore, or some evil task that we really struggle to start. The trick to it is to find a form of exercise that you enjoy and that you don't really see as just exercising.
While some people love to hit the gym and are happy to spend hours in there, for others this the worst thing ever. It can be dull and boring and again this makes it seem like a chore, so even if you go for a few times, eventually your interest in it will lessen and in the end you will just stop going entirely.
One form of exercise that a lot of people enjoy is swimming. Swimming is typically more fun and it is something you can get the whole family in to. This is especially true if you get a home swim spa or hot tub where you can do so from home. They are a great investment and well worth the initial outlay. You do not even actually have to swim in the water to lose weight, simply walking, running, jumping or any other form of exercise is great to use whilst in the water.
In fact even more so than when you are on the ground. This is because the water around you acts as resistance. Not only that, but exercise is made easier underwater, as the water itself helps you to move more easily and in a controllable way due to the resistance.
Yet there is an underlying problem with swimming, most of us are trying to lose weight because we are uncomfortable with our self image and so getting in to your swimming costume and going to the local pool may actually be a very scary thought!
That doesn't mean you should rule out swimming, if anything it should give you the incentive to work towards being comfortable to swim at the local swimming pool. For now however it is a great idea to invest in a swim spa for your home, where you can swim as much as you want from your own home. That way you do not have to worry about your appearance or get hung up on your body image, you can just enjoy the water and exercise while having fun and lose weight in the process if combined with healthy eating.
