Well that is a pretty crazy question isn't it? That is the question that I woke up with this morning. As I prepare for the upcoming teleseminar "Spring Cleaning Clear Your Money Clutter" I have been thinking a lot about relationships with money. So my awakening question this morning was, "If your money was a man would he date you?"
So we are going to spend the next few days looking at how you are treating money..
Have you ever dated someone that talked bad about you? Okay went out once with or had interest in? Most girls have had this experience at least once, he said you were fat or dumb or lazy or a b#!%^ or some other name calling statement? Well I have dated this guy and it stinks. So let's think about this, no one wants to hang out with someone that says mean things to you all the time. No one wants to be around someone that is negative around them constantly and unsupportive.
So my first question is, how do you talk about money? Are you kind, thoughtful, supportive, excited, proud, etc? Or do you say mean things about it "I never have enough. No matter how hard I work there is never enough. Every time I get ahead it finds away to go away. I hate money. I am scared of money. Money stresses me out. Money goes to everyone but me. Money pisses me off. I wish I never had to think about money. It is only money, I will get more. I don't think about money, I just make it. " Do any of these ring a bell for you?
So how do you talk about money? What is that constant message that you are telling yourself and others about your money boyfriend? Are you like the bad boyfriend saying negative things? Is your money looking at you thinking "what a jerk" and going somewhere else to hang out, where it is appreciated, cared for and fun to hang out with?
So for the next 24 hours be aware of what you are thinking or saying about money. Then ask yourself the million dollar questionIf money were a man would he want to date you based on how you are talking about him?
The purpose of this conversation is to help you wake up to your inner and outer dialogue about money.
