At the various show venues the dot the Strip, the shows are getting ever more spectacular as they engage in fierce competition for tourist dollars and its that competition that requires the performers to push the envelope and take it to the next level. The Las Vegas productions shows have become so much more than merely a line of girls kicking their legs into the air or simple comedy numbers; the shows have become mega-spectacles involving major investments and hyper-talented performers. Just go see such shows as Love and you'll get the idea of how opulent production shows have become.
Types of Shows in Las Vegas:
Almost all the shows that are organized in Las Vegas can be categorized into a handful of types. As mentioned above, there are the perennial production shows that typically include dancing and acrobatics, lavish costumes, and sumptuous set designs. Some examples of such shows include Cirque du Soleil shows at Las Vegas and Reve shows at Wynn. Note: Cirque du Soleil has become such an institution in Vegas that there are currently numerous different Cirque du Soleil shows running. Another category of shows is the Broadway adaptations such as Mama Mia, The Producers, Hairspray and Sapamlot.
Of course, there are the headliner shows that involve top tier entertainers and well-known celebrities. Celebrities like Celine Dion and Barry Manilow are headliner shows that have become Vegas institutions.
Another category of shows performed in the city of Las Vegas are adult shows and they come on many forms from naugthy to nice. Some of the popular shows for the ladies Chippendales (for the ladies) to Bite, a vampire production show steeped in sexuality.
There are also some comedy shows, magic shows and hypnosis shows that attract people from all parts of the world. Penn and Teller, The Amazing Johnathan and Carrot Top are huge in Vegas.
Free Shows:
There are also a number of "free Las Vegas shows" which might also be categorized as attractions. The Bellagio water Fountains shows is an example that attracts many people. In this fantastic show, water shoots up from the fountains and reaches as high as 245 feet in the air. The water is sprinkled on a lake spanning about eight acres. The show duration is for about 15 minutes and it starts at 3.00 p.m. the show takes places till midnight and you can enjoy such shows every Saturday and Sunday. Thousands of light lit up and it presents a very beautiful sight when the water seems to be dancing to the tunes of some mesmerizing music.
Another example is the Pirate battle at TI. Once familiy-oriented, the show has taken a different turn more recently as Treasure Island has rebranded itself as TI and has increasingly sought a more adult crowd by having the performers wear ever skimpier clothing and making more titilating and provocative moves.
If you're going to be in town, you would be doing yourself a great diservice not to take in a couple shows, they really are that good.
