Croatia is a beautiful and rather cheap destination, with unique national parks, like Krka, Plitvice lakes and so on...
I think the idea of croatia as cheaper alternative (to italy, perhaps) destination, rather than a country with unique nature and history heritage is what's giving a bad, wrong taste.
People in Croatia are more or less conservative, more conservative than folks from neighbor countries. Hope and think it will change in the near future.

In the coastal area, some quality white wines are also produced, such as Pinot, Malvazija, Kujundzusa and White Muskat, while continental Croatia produces Traminac, Burgundac, Grasevina and Kraljevina.
