Choose Fabric Shades This Summer

Sitting in your garden on a summer's day is wonderful and although the sunny weather hasn't quite reached us just yet, in a few months time spring will be here. One thing people tend to forget is that the weather does get really hot in this country and when you spend a few hours in the garden on a summer's afternoon you will need some shade to avoid getting sunburnt. There are many options to create a shady area of your garden both in traditional styles and with modern updated looks.

Fabric shades have been used for many years and can be traced back to the Romans, who used sails from the local boats were used to create shade from the intense sun. Today a similar design is used for to create shade but is given a modern updated look. Fabric is a great way of creating a sociable space in your garden or place of work. Not only that but there are plenty of different designs that you can choose from so that you get a trendy or traditional shaded area.

Creating shelter has now become particularly important for businesses since the smoking ban, as public houses that have been unable to provide an area for smokers to smoke away from the elements have really suffered. If you own a pub and want to create a sheltered area but have limited space to work with then fabric shades are ideal. The alternative is to buy a structure to fit in the area, but in most cities the concept of a 'beer garden' is now very limited.

Another part of the commercial market that will benefit from the flexibility of fabric shades are schools. School children need a sheltered area of their playground so they can escape the daily heat, especially whilst the play outdoors. Originally fabric structures were very popular in countries such as Australia and South Africa, but with people understanding that even the UK sun is dangerous, shades are the ideal solution. Now the shades are becoming more accessible and available in Europe they are becoming far more popular.

So the next time you decide that you want to create some shade in your garden, then it is definitely worth considering fabric shades. Find the area in your garden that you want to be the space that you have shelter, this may depend on which parts of your garden are in the sunlight during the day. Once you have decided where you want to have your shade you can then find a reputable company that sell fabric structures.
