subject: Nfl Tickets - Manning Bros Stay Undefeated [print this page]

Conventional wisdom in the NFL seems to state that if you want to have a top-notch team, have a Manning at the helm. At least, that seems to be working for both the Indianapolis Colts and the New York Giants, who are led by Peyton Manning and Eli Manning, respectively. Four weeks into the season, both brothers' teams are among the handful of teams with undefeated 4-0 records. Both have teams with tough offensive lines and stingy defenses, but that doesn't diminish the work of the Manning brothers. During Week 4, Peyton led the Colts to a 34-17 win over the Seattle Seahawks while Eli helped the Giants top the Kansas City Chiefs 27-16. These types of performances are what sell out NFL tickets to their games, which fans can get online.

Even though the score seems somewhat respectable, the Colts game against the Seahawks was actually a blowout. Midway through the fourth quarter, the Colts were up 34-3 and gave some playing time to their second string. In that game, Peyton was 31-of-41 for 353 yards, two touchdowns, one interception and a passer rating of 107.1. As a 12-year veteran of the league, Peyton Manning is realistic about the team's accomplishments so far this season. Colts.com reported Peyton saying after the win, "I feel it's a good start... It is an excellent first 'quarter.' That's the proper word. To be 4-0 after the first quarter - I think that's what all teams want. It's certainly what we want. There has been change this offseason, but it's still a long season."

The biggest change he is referring to is the retirement of longtime coach Tony Dungy and Jim Caldwell stepping up as his replacement. The team seems to be thriving under Caldwell's watchful eye, as they have also topped the Jacksonville Jaguars 14-12, the Miami Dolphins 27-23 and the Arizona Cardinals 31-10. Peyton has been with the Colts since he entered the league in 1998. Since then, he has led the Colts to perennial playoff appearances as well as a Super Bowl championship. This has also landed him in nine Pro Bowls.

Eli's performance against the Chiefs was just as impressive, although he suffered a heel injury near the end of the game. Eli was 10-of-34 for 292 yards, three touchdowns and one interception for a rating of 104.0. After the game, Giants.com reported Eli as saying, "I think it just all comes back to having a team mentality. If we win, it's a team win. If we lose it's because the team didn't play well enough. We know every week to not be satisfied with just winning but where we can improve and what we can get better going into the next week and getting better from each game."

The Giants have also topped the Washington Redskins 23-17, the Dallas Cowboys 33-31 and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 24-0. Many wondered if Eli Manning would be able to emerge from under his older brother's shadow, but he has done that and more since he entered the league in 2004. He led his team to the Super Bowl the year after brother Peyton did and also joined him in the Pro Bowl last year.
