More than thirty thousand years ago, mankind were living in as simple hunters and gatherers, eating what they could hunt and find in nature. At that time there was only one blood type, the type O. But as mankind evolved into farmers, merchants and travelers, a wider variety of food became available to us, our bodies had to adjust to match these new nutrients. This part of human history, is the nuts and bolts in the blood group diet, that was developed and published in a book, by Dr. Peter D Adamo in 1996. It is rather easy to understand the blood group diet, and your personal blood type basically tells you what group of people you are in.Blood type O is the oldest type of blood and people with this type of blood, belong to the hunters and cavemen. Your diet should more or less be what we call a caveman diet. A diet rich in animal proteins and simple leafy greens will do well along with beans and roots, such as potatoes. It is believed that the blood type A, belongs to the farmers. People with this type of blood should therefore follow a vegan diet rich on plant proteins. This group of people will have difficulties with breaking down, and making use of animal proteins. Some types of white meat can be added to the diet, but it must be kept to a minimum. The people who are in the type B group, is considered to be nomads or travelers. They are thought to be able to follow a more diverse diet, and dairy products are thought to be a good choice for this group. A mixed diet with poultry, vegetables and dairy products, would be a good choice for people in this group.Blood type AB is the newest registered blood type, and is believed to be no more than 1000 years old. This type of blood is more or less a mixture of the types A and B, and so you can combine the foods recommended for these groups. However the people who belong to this group, should stay clear of dairy products. You must remember to combine all of these options with plenty of physical activity, and water. The blood group diet has been subject to a lot of criticism from diet professionals, but nothing can explain the amazing results that the followers of this diet has seen.I also recommend that you do some reading on the mechanisms of the blood group diet, before you begin. A good place to start, is to research the diet online, or read the book by Peter D Adamo, "eat right for your blood type".
