The Ping K15 fairway wood features a larger head design that has positioned the mass of the club away from the club face to help increase the moment of inertia and lower and deepen the centre of gravity to provide a dynamic loft at impact that produces a higher trajectory.
Like the the K15 driver, the K15 fairway wood uses Ping's patent pending Straight Flight Technology that utilises an external weight pad to place 6% of the clubhead mass towards the heel of the club. This promotes a natural clubhead rotation through impact while the clever design means the external sole weight pad is barely visible at address.
This club is extremely well balanced. From the end of the grip to the sole of the head, one senses a club that was built to be easy to hit, easy to play, yet compromises nothing in the feel department. I have been working extremely hard on my tempo as of late, and the actual "feel of the club's balance" throughout the swing is something I have become extremely aware of because of this. I've now got a backswing that has all the speed of a snail trying to hook it through a trail of molasses. If a club has even the slightest bit of inconsistency of weight distribution, I really do feel it, and it has a tremendous effect on the overall quality of my swing. Combine that with this clubs "buttery yet still springy" feel at impact, combined with that classic sound makes this club feel excellent from impact to shaft on the back of the neck follow through.
