Diet Frequently Asked Questions

Question: What is the best way to lose weight?

Answer: The best way to lose weight is to eat less and exercise more. Men can lose weight faster than women; sorry gals. Also it will vary depending on your starting weight. Initial weight loss can be 5-15 lbs and then expect 2-4 pounds for men and 1-2 pounds for women. It is easier to lose weight if you combine some form of exercise, like walking, with your permanent change in eating habits. My top recommended diet that utilizes both of these dieting principles effectively is Strip That Fat.

Question: Are all diets safe?

Answer: Absolutely Not! Eating grapefruits all day every day isn't good for you. Either is starvation diets, diet pills, and any fad diet that will cause your weight to yo-yo. If you have never heard the term it is when you temporarily change your eating habits and then think; I've got this under control and return to your old ways. This will actually cause you to gain an additional 5-10% more weight than where you started. There have been many studies that prove that all diets are not safe and in fact, some can actually have a negative impact on your lifespan. It is important that you choose diets that don't not require you to starve, eat the same foods every day, or remove complete food groups from you diet. These are not safe.

Question: What diet do you recommend and why?

Answer: I recommend Strip That Fat because of it's core principles. First, it gives you the freedom to choose foods you like eating. There is no point in eating food at all if you don't like what you are eating and a diet won't work if you don't like the food.

Secondly, it incorporates some exercise techniques that anyone can dono matter if you are big or small. They also provide "busy schedule" exercises as well because we all know there is not enough time in the day.

Lastly, it is a diet that focuses not only on short term weight loss, but long term. This is very important because most diets are short lived and you gain all the weight back; the yo-yo effect. Not the case with Strip That Fat. You can read my full review Here.

Question: What is the quickest way to lose 10lbs in 2 weeks?

Answer: I have actually written a complete blog post about this. You can read it here.

Question: Is exercise important to losing weight?

Answer: Absolutely. Exercise is not only important for weight loss, it is also important for your own physical and mental health. It carries many benefits that go far beyond weight loss.

Exercise plays an important role in maintaining a healthy body, and it makes it possible to burn calories and lose weight without starving your body and slowing your metabolism. But do not look to exercise as your sole method of weight loss.

Think how many times you've heard someone say, "I'll have dessert and work it off later." That desert can equal hours of exercise something you're may not actually do. You are always better off to eat better than to exercise more. It is much easier to NOT eat 100 calories than it is to burn 100 calories.

Question: How should I get rid of belly fat?

Answer: Contrary to what yo may read; You can't spot reduce. This means there is no way to just lose weight from one area of your body. Just try and "crunch" your belly fat away it's not possible. Fat leaves in the reverse order you put it on. Therefore if you got your belly first it will be the last area to leave when you burn fat.

So the only way to lose belly fat is to properly diet and exercise and lose enough weight to to reduce the belly.

Question: Is caffeine good for weight loss?

Answer: This is a controversial topic in the medical community; some nutritionists may vary in their point of view. I personally believe that caffeine can be good in terms of attaining energy and for improving mental attentiveness, but as for weight loss it may not be something that you get into a habit of doing.

Some experts think when drinking caffeine it could release hormones in your body. It is a fat gaining enzyme that the body releases because the body is put into a stress mode or that there is "danger ahead". This is a fight or flight reflex that your body has. This might hamper your weight loss efforts so tread carefully.
