When it comes to finally plunking down all that hard earned cash to buying an engagement ring, most guys all seem to have the same exact problem: They try to buy the biggest rock possible! Now naturally, we all want the best for our sweetheart and we are, of course, inclined to think that bigger is better. But when it comes to diamonds, this just simply is not the case. There are several factors to look at when purchasing a ring and in fact, carat size is thelast thing you want to look at! First we have clarity. Clarity simply measures how clear the inside of a diamond is. Every single diamond has some sort of "inclusions" within it. However for most diamonds, it is impossible to see these inclusions with the naked eye. Our only concern is finding diamonds that fall in that range; we don't need to pay extra, wasted money to buy diamonds with inclusions that are so small that it takes powerful microscopes to see them! Second is color. All diamonds have some amount of yellow in them except for very rare, white diamonds. However much like with clarity and inclusions, it can take some special equipment to measure out the amount of yellow in a diamond. With our normal, naked eyes, we will see a diamond that just looks white. You don't need to waste money on a perfectly white diamond when you won't be able to tell the difference. Lastly, but certainly not least is cut. In fact, cut is the most important factor when purchasing an engagement ring. We only, only, only! want a diamond that is excellently cut. Diamonds that are excellently cut give off tons of light and sparkle like you wouldn't believe! Only after looking at these other 3C's do you find a range of prices and then look at the carat size of a diamond. If you do your shopping right, you can actually afford a much bigger and nicer diamond than you thought possible!
