New-Car-Buying-Checklist
Before Purchasing Any Vehicle, it is vitally important that you use a New-Car-Buying-Checklist. The reasoning behind this, is that it will help you to make a logical step by step car purchase, and not allow your emotions and material desires to cloud your judgment. You also might want to make up your own checklist of sorts, as to why you want a new car?
1. Before you begin to start your search, you must evaluate what your budget will be, a very helpful tool is to use your current Banking Institution or Credit Union. They will run your credit report, and help you facilitate a worthwhile, and affordable Car Loan, with your best interests in mind, A CAR DEALERSHIP WILL NOT! Doing this first step will not only put you in the drivers seat figuratively (vroom, vroom) because Knowing your budget BEFORE, you begin looking, will help you to be more in control of the car buying process.
Take this New-Car-Buying-Checklist with you.
Your Banking Institution will also help you with any trade in you might have, especially if there is still an outstanding amount owed on it. There are also differing values for your trade, there is a private party value, trade in value, etc. Any worthwhile.
Banking Institution, will have their own New-Car-Buying- Checklist, ask them!
Make sure you bring proof to any dealership you plan to do business with, of your pre approved financing budget because they will want to run your credit report again, this causes drops, you don't want that! Point to Remember: The last thing you want is to be upside down in your financing.
2. With your budget and Pre-Approval in hand, along with your New-Car-Buying-Checklist, its time to go shopping! you have a couple of choices here, and you need to contemplate them objectively, and concisely. One idea that I find Brilliant (if I do say so myself) is to shop in the comfort of your own home, the pressure is off, and you can get dealers to compete for your business. Of course you will need to test drive your vehicle, but if you REALLY have a good idea about the type of car you want to purchase, this is a good option.
Not only can you have dealerships compete with regards to price, you can also search around for the best deal on rebates, and interest rates! Imagine this! I actually had a friend purchase a brand new vehicle, with a $3,000.00 rebate, (which they used for the down, tax, and license) and 0% interest for 3 years? (IT DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER THAN THAT?) of course they had very, very, good credit, still you never know in this economy what "good credit" is today?
3. When negotiating with a dealership, remember, they have been selling cars, much longer than you have been looking! knowledge is POWER. A little research beforehand can help you determine the right price for a particular vehicle so you don't end up paying too much. Once you have made the ultimate decision to buy a new car, don't make the purchase right away. think it over for a day or two". That way, you're less likely to make a purchase in haste that you'll regret later on. Try to resist tactics on the part of a dealer to get you to make an impulse purchase.
Remember you don't want "BUYERS REMORSE"
I have heard many a salesman story. "come on John, this is a great deal, and my Sales Manager won't hold this offer for long" NEVER, EVER, allow a salesman to pressure you into making a purchase of such magnitude financially, on any TYPE of threat. They NEED your business, the last thing they want is for you to leave, angry and frustrated.
I'll say it again, and again.
INFORMATION IS POWER, when it comes to purchasing a vehicle, or any large ticketed item when you get right down to it.
GOOD LUCK! (you won't need it of course with the information in this website! and your New-Car-Buying-Checklist LOL)
