Ahh, the slim, trim sexy body, everyone wants it, but, how do you lose those extra pounds fast and easy? Losing weight can be a daunting task and if you add that to the hundreds of ways to lose weight that you are presented with on the internet and everywhere else, it can be difficult to decide exactly how to attack those extra pounds. I have a few suggestions from my own personal experience that will help you to finally shed those extra pounds and achieve that special body look that you have been striving for.
Getting Your Mind Right: Now I'm not going to tell you that you can just think yourself thin and the weight will just fall off, you know much better than that. But, I will tell you that you need to make a subconscious suggestion to your mind to provide direction and motivation. Focus and concentration are keys to your success in almost any undertaking. With that in mind, you should create a mental picture of how you want yourself to look when you are at your ideal weight and focus on that image consistently.You should hold this image in your mind every day for at least a few minutes.This intense concentration focuses your subconscious mind on the exact goal that you want and it goes to work automatically to align what is necessary to achieve that goal without your having to even think about it.
It is sort of like embedding the exact image of how you would like to look into your mind , remember that the subconscious mind cannot tell the difference between what is real and what is not. The repeated visualization impresses your desire on your subconscious mind and it will engage to produce the results you pictured in your mind. The human mind is an extremely complicated and untapped resource and always plays a large role in you achieving success in anything such as losing weight or any other goal you are attempting to reach. I know what you are thinking- "stop with the mental stuff already", but if you give it an honest try and be consistent, you will be shocked at the amazing results you will get.
Here is the meat and potatoes(forgive the pun) of the five ways to lose weight:
First and foremost, I think you will agree that the human body is an amazing creation built with the ability to adapt and overcome almost any hardship placed upon it. Your body will burn the stored fat cells on it for energy and normal bodily functions as this becomes necessary. So the real way to lose weight is to make this happen on a consistent basis. Some methods of making this happen are more efficient than others, but, it goes without saying that there are many ways to do this. Here are 5 ways that I have found to be very efficient(they work best if you do all of them):
1. Eat three meals every day, taking care to thoroughly chew your food and paying particular attention to how your body feels while eating. You will get a feeling of approaching fullness- Stop eating when you get this feeling. Some people never even notice or pay attention to this because they are distracted by other stimuli or they eat too fast resulting in mild to severe overeating on a regular basis. You don't have to count calories, but you do have to pay attention to your body, it will tell you when you have had enough. If you are consistently overeating now, this simple change alone can initiate a weight loss in a weeks time.
2. Drink at least six(6) cups(8 ounces) of water per day and limit your intake of caffeine. Stay away from caffeinated drinks with added sugar. I once was drinking about 5 to 6 regular sodas with sugar per day. Once I stopped this, I lost about 5 pounds that week.
3. Get at least 7 to 8 hours of rest per night, doing this will allow your body to recover and refresh from the days activities and enable it to work more efficiently. This allow your body to be at optimum efficiency so that more calories and fat are burned each day.
4. Skip the elevator and take the stairs, you would be surprised how fast you will get used to this. The modern world has many conveniences that are nice, but tend to make us lazy sometimes. Just think of all the little conveniences we take for granted.
5. Yes, you have to exercise, no need to start training for that ironman triathlon, however, you need to exercise on a consistent basis. The key to this is to start slowly and do your exercise on a consistent basis. I recommend 3 to 4 times a week with some type of aerobic exercise and some strength training to keep your muscle mass and tone. Pick an exercise you enjoy and stick to it. I jog 4 times a week and mix in some good old fashioned pushups and bicycle crunches.
I once struggled with my weight for years, I used to weigh about 260 pounds and was grossly overweight. I lost almost 100 pounds( I now weigh 165 pounds) and have been within 5 pounds of that weight for the last 20 years. Believe me when I say that I have tried almost every way of losing weight on the planet. It was not until I put these 5 things together that I achieved a consistent and healthy weight that was manageable over the long term. If you do these 5 simple steps you will see results quickly and if you continue to do them, they will become your key to reaching and maintaining your ideal weight for years to come.
