Beginning Your Yoga Practice

In yoga practice the importance of doing proper asanas or postures is huge. Like in any other fitness activities there is a great variety of exercises and postures and it is better for those who are beginners in yoga to take a good study of those postures. You have to understand that the use of those postures should be adapted to your own possibilities and needs. But yet there are a lot of poses that can be useful for the beginners. It is better to start with those asanas that are simpler than others so you can be used to yoga poses.

One of the beginner poses in yoga practice is the "corpse pose". To do the pose you will have to lie on your back. Try to spread your arms and legs also, turning the palms upwards. Relax, stay calm and pretend you're lifeless and free of any stress and pressure. Do it for approximately ten minutes than change to another pose.

The "yoga pose" is a perfect resting pose. While sitting on the floor you have to cross your legs, the clasp one hand's wrist in to the other behind your back. Breathe slowly and try to touch the floor with your forehead. Hold still for a small amount of time while holding your breath. Rise slowly and then repeat the exercise for approximately eight times.

There's also the "snake pose" in the yoga practice. Lie on the floor with your face down and touch it with the forehead. The hands must be placed on the chest and palms are down. Imagine that your eyes are pulled up so your torso goes up. Try to inhale in the process of going up, than hold up, trying not to breathe for up to twenty seconds. Then repeat the asana for about eight or more times.

Another pose in the yoga practice and in fact one of the easiest out there is the "half tortoise pose". All you need to do is to be down on the hands and knees, sitting on your heels. The hands must be extended upwards so they can join together by palms. Again you need to breathe slowly and then bowing in the forward direction for your forehead to touch the floor. Hold your breath and hold still for a short period of time and then rise keeping arms together in the previous position. Then you'll have to repeat that for eight or ten times.

These are the basic yoga postures that can be very useful for you. Yoga practice is hard work but in the end you will gain a healthy body and a healthy mind. Try searching on the internet for more useful and yet simple yoga asanas for beginners and you won't be disappointed. We advise you to find a personal yoga teacher and to begin your yoga practice with a professional.
