Calories To Lose Weight

A calorie is the measure of energy in a food. Depending on your body type, the amount of calories you take in plays a crucial role for weight loss. To lose 1 pound, we would have to burn 3500 calories. In order to get more in tune with this, we have to get further informed on the subject.

Calorie Needs

There are many different factors to determine the caloric needs of an individual. Gender, age, size, weight, and height are all key aspects to look at.

We have to look at family genes. In most cases the bigger the bones, or the smaller the frame, our body's shape and size will follow. Remember muscle weighs more than fat, so if you are the type of person that has a more 'athletic build'' then chances are your weight won't be the same as let's say someone who has a smaller frame.

Age plays a vital role when determining your calorie needs. A person in his or her mid twenties should be consuming at least 2300 calories a day. As we get older, the calorie intake decreases due to fat accumulation.

The gender factor makes a difference. Men generally need 5-10% more calories than women. This is because men have a greater percentage of lean muscle in their body, whereas women have less.

Someone that has a more physical job, will have higher calorie needs - Working out minimum 3 times a week is a good amount. You will notice that your physical activity will increase, thus making you burn more calories.

Low Calorie Foods

The food that you eat is crucial when referring to calories. We should stick to foods that have high amounts of protein, low amounts of saturated fat, and that are low in sugar.

We should stay away from consuming empty calories because they have little or no nutrition at all. Some examples include carbonated beverages, soft drinks, energy drinks, alcohol, candies, etc.

Fat burning foods are the best. These help your body digest faster and easier. Some include avocadoes, spinach, green tea, cold water, oatmeal, beans, olives, etc. Avocadoes have a high amount of fat, but it is good fat.

As long as you are eating all the right things you won't have to count every single calorie. Just make sure to include all food groups into your daily diet. Remember to exercise more frequently, and you will be able to stay on track.
