Everybody knows that one could lose fat if one exercises and looks after his nutritional needs. Just like in your goal to become leaner where you have to do certain things to achieve it, you also need to be wary of the things that you cannot do in order to lose an adequate amount of body fat.
One of the two things that you cannot do is to eat products that are labeled as low-fat. You might find this surprising but it is really true. When you eat low-fat products thinking all the while that you would become leaner is a true misconception.
Fat is one of the essential macronutrients that the body needs. For instance, if you happen to be in the desert, and you don't have any fat in your diet, you will eventually perish. This will happen even if you have carbohydrates, water, and protein. When you restrict your fat intake, you can just imagine the havoc it would wreak on your body. Some problems associated with restricted fat intake are hormonal problems, skin problems, and obesity. This is the reason why fat is an important part of our diet.
So whenever you take out fat from a certain product, you need to replace it with another. Not everyone knows that a lot of food companies replace the fat they take out with sugar and a lot of food additives. The high sugar levels actually cause insulin (the hormone that stores fat) levels to rise, thereby making us fatter. The more that we're trying to take out fat from our diet, the more that obesity has risen!
The other thing that you should never do is to follow what the food pyramid is teaching you to eat. The food pyramid is teaching us to eat plenty of grains, and that we must make it as the most important part of our diet.
Unfortunately, human beings have not been designed to eat grains genetically. Instead human beings evolved eating green foliage and meat. It was simply because of agriculture that people started devouring grains. Why? Because humans were not designed to eat grains as it would only lead you to be fat.
To further illustrate this point, what is done to cattle (or any animal for that matter) before sending them off to its slaughter? They are given grains to fatten them up. This translates to humans too and the more grains you eat, the fatter you become too.
So never forget these two things that you should not do if you aim to lose weight successfully. First, never grab products claiming that they are low-fat, and two, do not try to follow whatever the food pyramid is saying that you must eat.
