10 Ways To Help You Relax

Overworked? Underpaid? Under financial strain? Whatever the cause, if the daily grind is getting you down, then maybe you need to take some 'me time'.

It is much easier to say 'relax' than actually do it, which is why so many of us struggle to take time out and do something for ourselves. Here are 10 ways to relax...

1. READ A BOOK - either before you go to bed or while the kids are at school, take a break from distractions and get your head in a good book.

2. TAKE A NAP - why not have a mid-afternoon nap on Sunday? Or even in the week, as long as you're not sat at a desk. It'll do you the world of good to catch up on any sleep you're losing out on because of life's stresses.

3. GO FOR A WALK - walking is a great way to organise thoughts or even clear your mind. Plus, exercise is great for relaxing you. If you're struggling to sleep, a brisk walk every day might make all the difference.

4. TAKE A BATH - showers are convenient and great if you're on the go, but once a week you should make time for a bath. You could even light some candles, pour yourself a glass of wine and read a book to add to your relaxation.

5. GO ON HOLIDAY - what better way to escape life's stresses than by actually escaping somewhere far away. Out of sign, out of mind, they say and by going somewhere sunny, with a beach and pool-side bar, you might just forget about all your worries.

6. DRINK MORE WATER - drinking more water has been known to help lead to a more relaxed state and improved night's sleep, especially if it's a substitute for caffeine drinks like tea and coffee.

7. PAT YOUR PET - the motion of stroking or patting your pet is known to lower the heart rate and make you feel more relaxed. Plus, your dog or cat will be grateful.

8. GO TO A SPA - beauty and spa treatments are all about relaxing and stripping away the worries of the day. From facials and massages to detoxing body wraps and pedicures, you'll feel like a new person when you leave.

9. PLAY GOLF - if you love to play golf, then chances are you'll feel relaxed when out on the course. Plus, it involves lots of walking, so is great exercise.

10. LIGHTEN YOUR LOAD - The other thing you may want to think about is cutting back your workload. Chances are, if you're stressed, it's because you've taken on too much. Something has to give, so prioritise what you need to do and want to do and try and discard the rest.

If a spa sounds like the perfect option for you, you'll need to find a suitable establishment in your city. For example, if you're looking for a Manchester spa, make sure it's one that can offer the best spas and massages Manchester has to offer.
