Sightseeing Tour a Couple of Blocks Away from the Diplomatic Hotel

Mendoza city is not only the capital of the province, but it is also one of the most important tourist poles in Latin America. With an endless variety of proposals for its visitors, this metropolis has everything to offer. Its first class hotels, like the Diplomatic Hotel, are worldwide respected for the excellence of their services. Besides, you do not need to go too far away to enjoy nature and culture. Most of the places you need to visit are just around the corner.

In the quarter of Godoy Cruz, the center is concentrated around the square of the same name, between the Rivadavia, Columbus, Lavalle and Perito Moreno Streets.

There we can find a vast and exceptional architectonic legacy of the Villa San Vicente. As A Matter Of Fact, San Vicente used to be the original name of the department. Located around the square with the same name, the facades of the Honorable Council (which is the oldest public building in Mendoza, built in 1889), the City Hall, the movie theater and the Church of San Vicente Ferrer, are some of its buildings, notable for their different architectonic trends.

The Church of San Vicente Ferrer is one of the most interesting paces to visit during a tour and it is located in the Civic and Historical Downtown. There in the Lavalle St. 60, stands this Gothic-style church, which was constructed between 1906 and 1912. It was previously placed in another place, but it was partially destroyed by an seism.

On the west side is the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes and an outdoors Calvary. In the square you will find the memorial in honor to Thomas Godoy Cruz, opened in 1924. Throughout San Martin Avenue in the main square, as well, Godoy Cruz develops an interesting and dynamic business activity. There are lots of shopping centers and malls. The Palmares Open Mall, set on the Panamerican Highway is probably the most relevant among these stores.

Moreover, on walking through San Martin Avenue you can bump into the Arizu Winery, one of the favorites in the city of Mendoza. What is more, the Escorihuela Winery can be found in Alvear Avenue.

Then, you can find fascinating sightseeing circuits to do in the surroundings of the Diplomatic Hotel. Then, you do not need to go too far to find yourself surrounded by the culture of the people of Cuyo region.
