Yorkshire Terrier Training - Commands to Teach

Yorkshire may be little unintelligent but are seem excitable, perhaps due to their yapping and playful nature. But, they can be trained easily to do certain tasks. The necessary accessory for keeping dogs as pets is the dog training. This training will assure you with the dog having well manner and obedience. It will be more enjoyable to have obedient Yorkshire terrier than keeping a disobedient one. So the proper Yorkshire terrier training must be given to your yorkie.

Here are some basic commands given, that must be taught to your Yorkshire terrier:

1. Come: When you call your dog and doesn't come, then it is termed as disobedient dog. You can teach your dog this command by allowing the dog to roam around in the leash and calling its name with the command "come". It might need a light tug on leash to move your dog toward you while teaching for the first time. It can be successful only when you reward your dog with some treat. Try this under many circumstances and gradually remove the control when the dog performs without mistake.

2. Sit: This is also an important command. You can teach command 'sit' as you have taught command 'come'.

3. Stay: You can command your dog to sit and tell them to "stay" when you are busy doing something else. If the dog stays, then don't forget to reward your yorkie while it is in the same position.

4. Take it: Your Yorkshire terrier will not touch anything until you command to take the object. This will help to your dog prevent from biting and nipping.

5. Heel: Your dog will walk just behind you with its head at your leg, if you command "heel". You can implement this lesson by slapping to his thigh indicating where you want his head.

6. Drop: During the Yorkshire terrier training, the dog picks up anything, wanted or unwanted. If the dog drops the thing on this command, that dog is supposed to be under controlled. This will prevent the dog from eating anything dangerous or destroying the valuable thing.

7. Leave: This command is applied not to touch the things. It is also useful when the dog is about to pick up things. You can keep a treat on ground and let the dog pass by the treat without letting the dog to touch it. This is appropriate way for training.

There is no particular word for commanding, although the above mentioned list can be useful during your Yorkshire terrier training session. In fact the dogs including Yorkshire terrier can learn in any other languages or communication like hand gesture, whistling and so on.
