subject: Quick Hints For Tasty Low Carb Diets [print this page]

People are becoming more carb conscious thanks to diets such as Atkins and South Beach. Many people blame their weight problems on carbohydrates. However, it's important to realize that not all carbs are bad. What you need to concentrate on is eating the good carbohydrates. After all, there is a reason athletes load up on carbohydrates before an event. Carbohydrates, the good kind, give you energy! It is not healthy to cut all carbohydrates out of your diet, despite what the Atkins books say. The trick is to eat a low carb diet and concentrate on eating only good carbs. Here are some tips on how to do that.

Eggs are a great option for people on a low carb diet. People often associate breakfast with foods that are fatty and high in carbohydrates. As an example, bacon is one breakfast food many people won't give up. But eggs and fruit juice can constitute a good breakfast. As long as you avoid adding high carb extras to your eggs, they are a great substitute for high carb foods. You can make great omelets by simply adding fresh veggies to your eggs.

Using grated cauliflower instead of rice is a tasty way to cut back on your carbs. Cauliflower doesn't have many carbs in it.

It also has many valuable nutrients. Another bonus of cauliflower is that it can be cooked much more quickly. Cooking rice dishes this way allows you to prepare them in a fraction of the time. Using cauliflower is healthier than using rise and it is an easy substitution. For most recipes that call for rice, you can substitute grated cauliflower. You can use cauliflower in place of rice in about 95% of recipes.

Using a bowl in place of a tortilla is another easy way to cut down on carbs. While you may have to do more dishes, it's worth it to limit your carb intake, right? Everything from fajitas to breakfast burritos can be just as tasty when eating off of a plate or out of a bowl. You still cook everything the same, but rather than putting everything into a tortilla, you use a bowl.

The only dish this won't really work with is a quesadilla. Nobody wants to eat a bowl of melted cheese for their meal.

There are lots of ways to eat low carb diets. It doesn't have to be a hassle. If you use these tips, you can feel full but still eat a limited number of carbohydrates. You can live a regular life while limiting your carb intake. Eventually the conscious choices you make will be little more than habit. After eating this way awhile, you won't notice the differences anymore. After awhile of eating this way, you will only know that you feel better than ever before.
