subject: How To Make Your Own Wholesalers List [print this page]

A good wholesalers list is a great tool, a competitive edge in the retail business. As any good seller knows, there are only two ways to increase profitincrease revenue or decrease cost. Having a reliable and genuine set of suppliers ensures that your purchase prices are competitive, allowing you to focus on the sales end of the business. Most UK importers suffer losses when they dont factor in the cost of merchandise. Unfortunately, there is no free lunch, and consequently, the only free lists that you will find on the Internet are of little use. It is, however, possible to create your own list with a little time and effort.

The first thing to do is to contact your friends and family and start exploring all networking opportunities. Attend all events, product launches, and trade fairs, and expose yourself to the right people within the industry. New contacts are far more open to exchanging cards with people they barely know at such events. You should try and have business cards ready as well as a synopsis of your business that can get you a foot in the door. After that, the follow-up depends on you. Dont delete names that you cannot use immediately. People often change their minds about products that they start out with. Then, of course, you can always tap these contacts for other kinds of information.

Another way to add to your wholesalers list would be to frequent forums and sites where other members of the community get together and share views, opinions, and ideas, as well as names. If you dont find an answer in the conversation threads that are running, you can post a query and get an answer.
