1) Change how you look at the situation. What is it you're thinking about when you decide to lose weight or go on a diet? Is your thinking all negative? Are you saying to yourself "I need to lose a lot of weight because I'm fat and miserable?" Or. Are you saying to yourself "I need to get into shape so that I can get even more out of life?" One is negative and one is positive. Guess which one is more likely to succeed.

2) Make one small change at a time. Many people feel like they can't get started losing weight until they are prepared to dive all in. It isn't an all or nothing proposal. Losing a lot of weight is a series of steps in the right direction and not an "all in" approach that results in so many changes at once it shocks your system into complete and total meltdown mode. Your body doesn't handle a sudden adjustment from 2,200+ calories per day to less than a 1,000. It thinks it's starving and holds onto everything.

3) Have a plan in place and follow it. You have to have a plan for a successful business. You need to have a plan for retirement. You should always have a plan before you build a house. Why should it be any different when you work to build a better you buy losing a lot of weight? But it's not enough just to have a plan you have to follow the plan you have for the best possible impact.

Losing a lot of weight doesn't have to be a huge challenge. People often make it much more difficult than it has to be. All you really need is to make several steps in the right direction.
