Reasons Why You You're Unable to Lose Weight

If you reach a point where you can't lose weight regardless of what you do, you might feel like throwing in the towel and giving up once and for all Don't! There's likely some very simple explanations why you can't take off any weight, as soon as you solve them the weight should start coming off.

Are you overeating?

Oftentimes you may be eating and you just don't realize the amount of calories you're consuming so that you eat much more calories than you want to. Make a list of everything you normally eat and drink in one day, and estimate how many calories it adds up to. A simple method to find out your daily caloric needs is to multiply your current weight by ten. That gives you the amount of calories you will have to eat to maintain your current weight. To lose weight you can decrease the number of calories you eat by five hundred daily. So, if you need to consume 2,000 calories to maintain your body weight, you would want to cut down to approximately 1,500 to lose weight.

You don't eat enough

Surprisingly by not eating enough you can sabotage your weight loss plans. Your body feels as though it's going through a famine so your metabolic rate slows down and it becomes very hard to lose weight. Once again, work out how many calories you are eating daily and if necessary you may have to bump it up a bit more. However, don't try and bump it up by consuming more junk food calories. Instead, go for higher-calorie healthy foods, like drizzling some olive oil on your salad, or eating an ounce or two of trail mix for a healthy snack. And eat smaller meals more often, rather then 3 large meals throughout the day. It'll keep your body's fat burning systems running more smoothly and efficiently.

You don't get enough physical activity

You are unable to lose weight easily if you don't exercise because working out helps you avoid being forced to reduce your calorie intake too low. If you cut back 500 calories daily and work off an additional 500 calories each day you'll be on track to safely lose 2 pounds per week.

Your Diet is Poor Quality

What kinds of foods are you eating each day? Does your diet consist of whole grain wheats, fresh fruit and veggies and complex carbs? Or do you eat packaged preprocessed foods which can be high in sugar, sodium and the wrong kinds of fats? Needless to say, your weight loss is going to be easier if you feed your body good quality foods. Your body needs plenty of vitamins, minerals and nutrients, so make sure to provide them with the foods you consume, and you may even want to take a high-quality multi-vitamin as well.

Medical Reasons

In the event you still can't lose weight even if you have addressed all the previous issues, there might be some medical reason for your sluggish weight loss problems. Two that come to mind are an under-active thyroid gland, or perhaps a medication you're taking that is interfering with weight loss. Both of these situations could be interfering with your ability to lose weight in which case you should talk with your doctor to find out what he or she suggests.

Just don't get frustrated and lose hope and give up. Just because you cannot lose weight easily doesn't mean you can't reach your weight loss and fitness goals; you just may need to be a little more determined to get there than the average person.
