This is celebrated during March or April wherein firecrackers, drums, and flaring torches are used to rid the island of evil spirits on the final day of the preceding year. A colorful parade takes place wherein symbols of the evil spirits are burned at midnight as it signals the beginning of the Day of Silence. Locals stay quietly at their homes and no traffic is allowed on the road so that any evil who will land on the island will think tha tthe island is deserted and leave it in peace for the whole year.
