Children and mayonnaise doesn't get along so well, it can be very messy and kids move around too much. Mayonnaise treatment can be very icky and uncomfortable. So it is best to advice them about the treatment process and tell him the things he can and can't do while the treatment is in progress.

Using mayonnaise as treatment for head lice is fairly simple. You have to saturate your child's hair with a generous amount of thick mayonnaise and make sure that you do not miss a dry spot otherwise the head lice will just go to that uncontaminated portion. Then, tie the hair up on your child's head and wrap it with plastic or shower cap and make sure not to leave any strand hanging out. Leave it until the next morning.

It is best to secure it with a towel to avoid any excess mayonnaise from running down from the pile of hair and dripping into the pillow. Better yet, you may also want to consider placing an extra towel over your child's pillow so that if there's any mayonnaise running down from the hair treatment, the pillow won't get stained.

Wash the hair the next day with mild shampoo. Then using a nit comb and run it over your child's hair. This treatment for head lice has been proven to be effective for the said purpose. Aside from that, mayonnaise is also very affordable and has no harsh ingredients.
