Bergamot Oil

Our 100% Pure Bergamot Essential Oil is obtained from the peel of Citrus bergamia a citrus fruit, extracted mainly by cold expression. Although a native of South East Asia, it is named after Bergamo town in Italy, where the fruit was first introduced and cultivated. Bergamot is mostly found in Morocco, Tunisia, Algeria, and Ivory Coast. It is largely produced in Italy, California, and Mediterranean countries.

Traditionally, Bergamot oil was used as a flavoring in Earl Grey tea, perfumes and as a remedy for fever. It is a light greenish yellow colored, thin, citrusy, spicy, sweet and floral scented essential oil. The main chemical constituents in bergamot essential oil are limonene, linalyl acetate, nerol, and linalool. The therapeutic properties of natural bergamot oil are euphoric, antiseptic, astringent, calmative, deodorant, vulnerary, vermifuge, antibiotic, anti-spasmodic, sedative, analgesic, antidepressant, disinfectant, febrifuge, cicatrisant, digestive etc.

Due to the manifold benefits of bergamot essential oil, it is considered extremely beneficial and valuable. Genuine Bergamot essential oil is a wonderful remedy for stress, depression, seasonally affected disorders, oily skins, acne, boils, eczema, psoriasis, cold sores, chicken pox, wounds, insect bites, urinary tract infections, inflammations, muscle cramps, sore throat, mouth infections, flatulence, loss of appetite, headache, sprains, colds, fever and flu.

Pure Bergamot essential oil is one of the main ingredients in perfumes and colognes, commonly used in toiletries and massages to refresh and sooth both mind and body.

Bergamot is known to be one of the most photo toxic essential oils and should be used carefully in sunlight, hot climates and other ultraviolet light. Otherwise it is considered to be a relatively non-toxic and non-irritant essential oil. Avoid in cases of liver problems, pregnancy or nursing. Dilute well before use as it may possibly irritate the skin.

Bergamot essential oil blends well with Black Pepper, Clary Sage, Cypress, Frankincense, Geranium, Jasmine oil, Mandarin, Nutmeg, Orange, Rosemary, Sandalwood, Vetiver and Ylang Ylang oil.
