subject: Help With Attracting Women With Magic - Learn To Do Magic Tricks Effectively With A Better Storyline [print this page] A good magician can draw you in just like a good novel, or an exciting movie. Magic has a way of drawing our interest when it is done correctly. Therefore magic is a great way to break the ice with people we don't know. A simple card trick can be turned into a story; the story can be turned into an adventure. When you use magic appropriately your audience should feel engaged in the action. When you use magic as an ice breaker you have a chance to leave a lasting impression.
When you have a storyline for your magic it makes a huge difference. In the magic world we call that "patter". Good patter makes the effect much better than it was originally. Before you perform a magic trick think about what you are going to say. Create a story line that is 1) interesting 2) engaging and 3) unforgettable.
When I think of great patter I think of David Copperfield performing "Grandfather's Aces" (If you haven't seen this before go on YouTube and search for it). In this effect he talks about how his Grandfather taught him this card trick, but he was never able to perform it in a big show while his Grandfather was alive. The story touches your heart.
When patter is done correctly it is mesmerizing. In other words your audience feels like they are a part of the action. There is something romantic and mystical when a magician makes a woman float in the air. When you are performing an effect, no matter how small, how can you engage your audience in the action?
When I am doing close up I will carefully, but purposely use touch. For instance if they need to hold something or move their hand I won't tell them to do so I take my hand and place it on theirs to move or adjust them while I am explaining more of the storyline. Touch has an amazing way of drawing a person into what you are doing. Another good way to accomplish this is to do an effect in which you and the spectator are sort of teaming up against the rest of the audience. You say things like, "The two of us are together in all of this..." A good friend of mine does a card trick amazingly well in which he uses a thumb tip with the name of the card written on the thumb. (After causing the spectator to feel like they are on the same team he just makes sure to show them his thumb.) "Magically" they always choose the right card. Magic has a way of leaving a lasting impression. I have gone to places years after I had performed there and had people approach me and talk to me about a certain effect I had performed. Magic leaves an impression on us. I can still remember the first time I saw David Copperfield live. I was 10 years old. I still remember most of the magic he performed that night.
Magic is a powerful awesome way to leave an impression think carefully about the image you are putting out there. Never approach magic from the perspective of "Hey look at this!" That makes you out to be kind of nerdy. Instead approach magic as something that draws people to you. Simply start doing something and people will come and watch. It never fails! Before you know it you will be trying to leave and they won't let you because they want to see more.
Magic has an incredible way of changing the way we look at the world. For a brief moment we are able to suspend our notions that the rules of nature apply to us. We are able to be more than we once were. Magic has that effect on us and the people we perform it for. When you practice an effect make sure that you create a patter that is interesting, engaging, and unforgettable.
The story line in magic is what makes us feel as if we are a part of what is going on. Magic leaves a lasting impression on us. Become a better magician by taking these ideas into mind when you are creating and performing your next effect.
