Employer Based Health Insurance Plans Vs. Private Pay Plans

Health insurance is by no means cheap. It is not getting any cheaper either. With that in mind it is not surprising that a lot of people are looking around to see if they can get a better deal and pay less. For those people with insurance from their employer, they will likely soon find out that they really can't get anything for less money that has the same amount of benefits. By making some comparisons it doesn't take long to figure it all out.

It seems to be the case that an employer plan will always be less expensive and have greater benefits than a private plan. That means you will be pulling less cash out of your bank account to pay for things with an employer plan. Basically the reason behind this is that there are many people to base the employer plan on and just you and your family for a private plan. It is riskier and more costly with smaller groups.

You will usually also have better benefits when you have health insurance from your employer. Some people don't like having to deal with HMO plans because they have so many rules about who you can see. It is limited who they will pay for but you will still get the coverage and the care that you need from the HMO. They don't leave out any illness and the offer full pregnancy benefits as well usually.

Private pay insurance plans serve more of a purpose to those who don't have any employer based health insurance benefits. These plans are an excellent way for those who are self-employed or between jobs to receive the health insurance coverage they need for themselves and their families. And many insurance companies provide things like traveler's health insurance, temporary insurance, and other short term options that can help people get through a time when they would otherwise be uninsured.

You don't see holiday sales on health insurance. It is an expensive part of life. The most affordable health insurance that you will be able to find will likely be that which is offered from an employer. Even though it might still seem to you that you are paying a whole lot, it is likely a very good deal for the money. It just takes a little comparison shopping to see what else is out there and then determine that you have it pretty good.
