Men are also socially expected to know the basics of every popular sport out there. He should at least know generally how to play football, basketball, soccer, baseball, hockey, and so forth.
It is also expected that he knows how to fish and has some idea about how to do other manly hobbies. You should also know how to shine your shoes and use a map properly.
Another thing that men are generally expected to learn are some basic primitive skills. While it may not seem like you need these skills in today's life of ease and comfort, there may come a time when you will desperately wish you had them.
It is not so uncommon for people to use these skills when camping or in other random circumstances, such as when the power goes out. As a man you should know much more than how to light a fire.
You should also know how to build a fire so that it is efficient and effective. How you build a fire will affect how long it burns, how hot it burns, and how much wood you will need to gather.
There is a long list of other things that you must also know for survival in the wilderness. These things include building a shelter, finding potable water, and so forth.
In addition to the two things that a man has always been expected to be able to do, there are many things that a man should be able to do today that have to do with modern technologies and advances.
The first modern thing a man should know how to do is deal with cars. Most women depend on their husband to learn how to fix cars and to fix their cars.
Likewise, it would be embarrassing if you were on a date with a girl you really liked and you would have to admit that you did not know anything about cars if the car broke down. That would definitely not help you make the impression you were hoping to make.
At the very least, you should know how to repair a flat tire, jump a car, fix the fluids, and drive in the snow. The more you know the better it is.
In addition, it does not usually impress women that you can speed. Everyone can speed, but not everyone has the self control to not speed.
It is much more impressive if you follow the rules of the road. In addition, it is much safer for everyone if the rules are followed.
Another thing that men should know is how to deal with the unusual and unexpected extremes. You would be the hero of your community if you were able to help them survive a flood, tornado, earthquake, or other natural disaster.
Never hesitate to be the hero in everyday life as the skills you learn may enable you to be a hero during a very stressful or extreme situation. This skill goes along with the ability to protect your family.
Today it is also important that men know how to use technology effectively. Most women do not know how to repair computers. As a result, they depend on men to repair their computer for them.
It is too expensive and time consuming to take their computer to repair store to get it fixed. You should know how to protect your own computer from viruses and you should know how to fix it.
Some men mistake this for hiding their computer from their kids or partner. This is definitely something that you do not want to do.
Be sure to create a backup of all the important information that you have stored on your computer in case your computer does completely die, which happens sometimes. Computer skills, primitive skills, protective abilities, disaster skills and automobile skills are all definitely things that modern men must know today in order to fully provide for their families.
