subject: Dealing With The Side Effects Of Pregnancy [print this page]

There are many side effects of pregnancy that you probably experience if you find out that you are expecting. While many of these side effects are the signs of an ill normal person, they are completely normal during pregnancy.

One of the side effects that you may have to deal with is morning sickness. Morning sickness is not only triggered by certain foods, but certain odors and the looks of certain things.

During this time you diet will consist of pretty much anything that you can keep down. Even if the only thing you can keep down is the most vitamin-less type of cracker.

It is very important that you try to fuel yourself up to your body energy to create the baby even if you keep losing it. Many women tend to lose weight during the first three months of pregnancy because of morning sickness.

Even though it is called morning sickness, it does not necessarily striking the morning. Some women find it necessary to clear their whole morning to deal with the sickness while others find that they can still work without a problem.

It is critical that you replace the liquids you lose when you are sick or you could end up in the hospital. Gatorade or other sports drinks can also help replace things that will help you feel more energetic.

Another side effect of pregnancy is fatigue. You will probably feel more tired more of the time than you have ever experienced in your life.

Sometimes you may find that you need to lie down after performing one simple task, such as doing the dishes. Be sure to respond to the fatigue and rest when you need to.

It is okay to take naps as often as you need to during this period. If you have to work, even resting your eyes for a couple minutes can help you feel better.

Do not turn to energy drinks or caffeine to overcome the fatigue. Instead, make sure you get plenty of rest because these things are not healthy for your baby.

You may also find that you will develop cravings for certain kinds of foods. While at other times you may have to practice self control in not giving in to these cravings, it is generally a good idea to give in to these cravings.

Many doctors believe that cravings indicate what things your body is lacking and needs for the creation of the baby. For example, if you crave salty things you are probably in the process of making more blood to be used in the uterus.

Of course, if your craving is death by chocolate cake, eat one piece to satisfy your craving, but do not let yourself eat the whole thing. You can still overdo it, even if some is okay in this case.

Another side effect of pregnancy that you may experience is back pain. Back pain develops because of the pressure that the growing uterus puts on the small of the back.

This pressure will grow throughout pregnancy until delivery. This back pain can be mostly relieved if not totally relieved through developing good posture and through being careful of how you lift things.

Lifting is one of the number one causes of back damage and back pain, even among those who are not pregnant. It is critical that you lift things using your legs instead of straining your back.

This includes even and especially the other children that you may have. If there is a heavy object to be moved, try to wait for your husband to come home so that he can move it.

Or ask someone else to do it for you. Or divide the load into two smaller loads that are easier to lift.

It is also critical that you try to develop good posture. Even if slouching feels like relief for a few minutes, it will feel like increased pain a few minutes later.

Sitting up straight in a chair will good upper and lower back support can tremendously relieve the back pain you may be experiencing. It is important that you are mindful of your back as you could seriously damage it.

This could result in surgery and constant back pain for the rest of your life. This would seriously hinder your ability to do many things.

There are many side effects of pregnancy. However, most women say that they enjoyed their pregnancy overall following the experience as there are many positive side effects as well.
